Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is pleased to announce that its COVID-19 Vaccination Hub will be located in the former Coles building at 184 High Street, Wodonga.

Boasting approximately 1230 square metres of floor space, frontage onto Wodonga’s main street, and 61 car parks, the location is renowned as the former Coles supermarket, which closed its doors in 2008.

“The central location, paired with existing infrastructure and parking capacity makes it the perfect location for Albury Wodonga Health to establish its Wodonga-based Vaccination Hub,” AWH’s CEO, Michael Kalimnios, said.

While interior construction is still underway, the final product will consist of 36 vaccination points, two treatment rooms, two consult rooms, toilet facilities and separate rooms for pharmacy, storage and staff amenities. The Hub will also have two separate waiting areas – accommodating for individuals prior to vaccination, and those undergoing post-vaccination observation.

“The local Public Health Unit has been working through site readiness requirements to ensure the Hub is compliant with Australian Government and Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) standards,” Mr Kalimnios said.

“We are excited to commence operations from the High Street location in the coming weeks. Until that time, initial Phase 1(a) vaccinations will be delivered at Albury Base Hospital, with the first dose due to be administered next week.”

Wodonga Mayor Cr Kev Poulton welcomed the announcement the hub would be in the Wodonga CBD.

“The hub will be regionally important in keeping our community and residents in our neighbouring council areas safe in the continuing fight against COVID-19,” he said.
