ALBURY’S replacement youth cafe to be built in QEII Square has been given the green light.

Albury Council’s planning committee this week approved a development application for the youth cafe which was forced to relocate with its former home, Burrows House, incorporated into the $10.5 million art gallery redevelopment.

The replacement cafe will be built at the back of the LibraryMuseum, but due to council owning the building and QEII Square, the development application had to be independently assessed.

Mayor Kevin Mack welcomed planning consent which would be followed by a call for tenders to build the cafe.

“I hope this is the start of a very fortuitous journey for the youth of Albury,” he said.
