Howlong’s The Hub shopping complex and vacant land sell at auction

A Howlong shopping plaza developed 17 years ago attracted spirited bidding on Friday before eventually selling for a better than expected price of $1.73 million.
The Hawkins Street property near the town’s bakery is presently home to six tenants including the Hume Bank, chemist, physiotherapy and lawyerADVERTISING
It also includes a large undeveloped parcel of land at the rear.
The plaza was built by Jim and Phyllis Edwards in 2004.
Bidders from Albury, Howlong and Corowa bidders and two from Sydney on phones participated in the auction before an Albury investor emerged the victor.
“It’s really exceeded our expectations,” LJ Colquhoun Dixon auctioneer Andrew Dixon said.
A 42.38 hectare for 104 acre arm at Dederang has also sold at auction for $1.42 million to a local buyer.
The Kiewa Valley Highway property belonged to the Currie family for 36 years.
“We had good enquiry all the way through,” Paull & Scollard’s Bernard Ivone said.
